Prepare to Succeed with the Bachelor’s program in Agrifood and Environmental Economics !

The academic program in Agrifood and Environmental Economics (EAM) gives students a broad foundation of knowledge in economics. Students learn to apply the concepts and principles of economics to real-world problems. That allows them to understand relevant economic issues facing today’s consumers, businesses, and governments. Our educational approach is specifically tailored to prepare students to think analytically and apply decision-making skills to solve complex issues. These skills are vital for personal and professional success.

The Bachelor’s program in Agrifood and Environmental Economics focuses on two areas that are closely connected to society—food production and environmental problems. These problems are analyzed on a national basis and also on a global scale in order to gain perspective on:

  • the organization of agriculture and food systems;
  • the evaluation of agricultural and rural development policies;
  • the functioning of agricultural markets;
  • food retailing and demand analysis;
  • the economics of non-renewable resources and energy exploration;
  • the costs and benefits of environmental policies;
  • and the economics of climate change.

The Bachelor’s program in Agrifood and Environmental Economics ensures the theoretical and practical training for students in order for them to acquire specific skills in: financial management of food industry companies; elaborating of income and expenditure budgets, as well as of statistical records; communication and negotiation in agribusiness; elaborating business plans and rural development projects; conducting market surveys; elaborating a marketing strategy; performing economic and financial analysis, audit reports and designing communication strategies for environmental issues.

EAM undergraduate students have the educational background to pursue a wide variety of careers, including (but not limited to) agribusiness manager, retail-marketing managers, financial planner, entrepreneur, economic development specialist, or economic analyst, etc. Many of our students also go on to pursue advanced or professional degree.
